Kandy Lake.
Created in 1807 by
the final ruler of the kandyan kingdom. Sri wichrama rajasingha, the kandy lake
was the central point of the king’s grand vision to convert kandy into a
celestial city. Paddy fields to the south of the place were replaced with the
vast body of water to reflect the place complex and the forests beyond,
creating the impression of a floating city
in the sky. The best way to enjoy the lake is to stroll around it, particularly
the quieter part by the temple of the tooth.
