British Garrison Cemetery
A quiet but melancholy haven on the edge of the udawatta
kele forest sanctuary, the 1663-grave cemetery was established in 1817. The sad
fact is that most Britons interred here died very young, the victims of
sunstroke, malaria or elephant diplomat who represented the british government
at the 1815 convention where the kingdom of kandy was annexed to british crown.
